How to Create Labels and Assign Posts to Categories in Blogger

When managing a Blogger site, organizing your posts under specific menu tabs (such as Government Jobs, Private Jobs, or Army Jobs) is essential for giving your readers a clean user experience.

In Blogger, categories are called Labels. This step-by-step guide walks you through creating labels and linking them directly to your main menu tabs so your posts display in their correct categories.

Step 1: Copy Your Website URL

  1. Open your blog homepage in your web browser.

  2. Copy your main blog URL from the address bar (e.g., [https://yourblogname.blogspot.com](https://yourblogname.blogspot.com)).

Step 2: Access Your Blogger Layout Settings

  1. Log in to your Blogger Dashboard.

  2. From the left navigation menu, click on Layout.

  3. Locate the Main Menu, Link List, or DropDown Menu section.

  4. Click the Pencil (Edit) icon next to the menu to edit your category links.

Step 3: Link Categories to Menu Tabs

To route each menu tab to its corresponding label page, format your Site URL as follows:

  1. Click Edit next to the tab you want to configure (e.g., Government Jobs).

  2. In the Site URL box, paste your main website URL.

  3. Append /search/label/ followed by your exact label name to the end of your URL:

  1. Click Save on the link item.

  2. Click Save at the bottom right of the Layout page to apply your changes.

Step 4: Verify Your Menu Links

  1. Go to your live blog and refresh the page.

  2. Click on the updated menu tabs.

  3. If configured correctly, you will no longer see a 404 Error. Instead, Blogger will show a message confirming: "Showing posts with label: YourLabelName."


By linking your navigation menu tabs to specific label URLs, any new post assigned to that label will automatically appear under its designated category tab.
